Privacy Policy

Wakemeapp (“the app”) is an alarm application that can create alarms from the appointments in your Google Calendar or Outlook, and also offers a GPS alarm and a weather alert. This policy explains what data the app processes and how.

2 Data processed

• Google and/or Outlook calendar appointments (read-only): with your consent, the app reads the title, the description and the start/end time of the appointments in your calendars, including the ones shared with you and the ones you subscribe to, via the Google Calendar API (scope calendar.readonly) and/or the Microsoft Graph API (scope Calendars.Read). Used only to build the alarms.
• Google and/or Microsoft authentication tokens: OAuth tokens (access/refresh) are stored encrypted only on your device (Android Keystore / SecureStorage). Never sent to any app server.
• Settings and alarms: the alarms and preferences you create are stored locally on your device.
• The email address of the connected account: shown in the app so you can tell one account from another. It stays on your device.
• Position (GPS alarm): only while a GPS alarm that you started is active, the app reads the precise position of the device to know how far you are from the destination and when you will arrive. It is used on the device and not kept after the trip.
• Destination search and route (GPS alarm): when you search for a destination, the text you type and, if the location permission is already granted, your approximate position (rounded to about 1 km) are sent to Google Places to suggest places. When a GPS alarm starts, and again if you leave the route, your current position, the destination and the chosen means of transport are sent to Google Routes to calculate the route. Favorite destinations and the latest searches stay on your device.
• Places for the weather alert: the places you choose (up to three) are stored on your device. To get the forecast, their coordinates are sent to Google Weather, a few times a day for each place. Searching for a place works like the destination search of the GPS alarm (Google Places). The weather alert does not follow your position: only if you choose “Current location” while adding a place, the app reads your position once and the device’s geocoding service (Google’s, on most phones) turns it into the name of your town. The town is saved, not your position.

3 No server, no profiling

Wakemeapp has no server of its own. Calendar data is processed locally on your device and is never stored, sold, shared, or used for advertising or profiling. The only network communication happens directly with Google and/or Microsoft services for authentication and reading the calendar, depending on the account you connect, and with Google Maps Platform if you use the GPS alarm or the weather alert.

If you use the watch app, when an alarm rings the phone sends it the alarm name, the time and the title of the appointment, so your wrist can show them. That exchange happens between your two devices through Google’s Wearable Data Layer, and nothing is kept.

4 Data sharing

No data is shared with third parties. The only recipients are Google and Microsoft, as providers of the calendar and authentication service for the account you connect, per Google's Privacy Policy and Microsoft's Privacy Statement. Use of data received from Google APIs complies with the Google API Services User Data Policy, including Limited Use requirements.

For the GPS alarm and the weather alert, Google also receives the data described above as the provider of Google Maps Platform (Places API, Routes API and Weather API), per Google's Privacy Policy and the Google Maps Platform Terms.

5 Device permissions and purpose

• Notifications / exact alarms / full screen: show and ring the alarm at the scheduled time, even on the lock screen, and deliver the weather alerts on time.
• Foreground service (audio playback): keep the alarm sound playing without the system stopping it.
• Vibration: vibrate when the alarm rings.
• Start at boot: reschedule alarms after the phone restarts.
• Read audio files: let you pick a personal ringtone from your device.
• App always ready (optional): exclude the app from the automatic hibernation of unused apps, so Android does not remove its permissions if you don't open it for a while.
• Location, only while using the app: for the GPS alarm, precise, to follow the distance to the destination while the alarm you started is active; for the weather alert, only if you choose “Current location”, to find your town (approximate is enough). The app does not ask for location in the background.
• Foreground service (location): keep following the trip with the screen off, with a notification that stays visible and lets you stop the GPS alarm at any time.

6 Data retention and deletion

Tokens and local data stay on your device until you log out or uninstall the app. You can delete your data at any time by:

• logging out of the app (removes tokens from the device);
• revoking the app's access from your Google Account or your Microsoft Account;
• uninstalling the app (removes all local data).

7 Children

The app is not intended for children under 13 and does not knowingly collect their data.
